This role is ideal for someone who leads from the front, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and has a practical “can-do” approach to getting the job done. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our fertiliser production, storage, and distribution site, ensuring operations are safe, efficient, and well organised.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Management
· Take a hands-on role in overseeing the production, storage, and dispatch of fertilisers.
· Ensure the site operates efficiently and meets all safety, quality, and environmental standards.
· Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock levels are managed effectively.
· Support the team on the ground when required to keep operations running smoothly.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
· Lead by example in maintaining a strong health and safety culture across the site.
· Carry out regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
· Ensure the safe handling and storage of fertiliser products and other materials in line with environmental regulations.
Team Leadership
· Supervise, motivate and support site staff through clear communication and practical leadership.
· Provide training and guidance to ensure the team works safely and efficiently.
· Organise daily work schedules and allocate resources to meet operational demands.
· Foster a positive team environment with a strong focus on safety, accountability, and teamwork.
Quality Assurance
· Ensure products consistently meet customer specifications and industry standards

· Liaise with suppliers, hauliers, and logistics providers to maintain smooth operations.

Continuous Improvement

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience
· Proven experience in a similar site or operations management role, ideally within fertiliser, agriculture, manufacturing, or chemical industries.
· Experience managing teams in a hands-on operational environment.
Certificates
· Health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or IOSH) preferred but not essential
Skills
· Practical, hands-on leadership style with a proactive “can-do” attitude.
· Strong organisational and decision-making skills

· Good understanding of logistics, storage, and safe handling of bulk materials.

The Role

Thomas Bell are looking for two HGV Class 1 Wagon and Drag Drivers to join the team delivering bagged fertiliser to farms across the UK.
We are a long-established company that value good staff and offer attractive rates of pay to reflect this. Two full time roles are available, working Monday to Friday with occasional nights out and weekend work.Suitable candidates will have DCPC and digi card, excellent customer service and a proactive approach.

Drivers must have:-
